| 英文描述 | Bird fleas, order SIPHONAPTERA, are parasites as adults and free living as larvae. Brown to black in color, possess a tough laterally compressed body, piercing-sucking mouthparts, short antennae in grooves, and long legs. There are many species of fleas reported around the world, but the three main ones in theUS are; STICKTIGHT FLEA (ECHIDNOPHAGA GALLINACEA), EUROPEAN CHICKEN FLEA, and WESTERN CHICKEN FLEA. Mature fleas attach to the host and deposit several eggs which roll into the litter. Irritation and blood loss may cause serious damage in young chicks. |
